Israel claims to have killed a Hezbollah Commander in an Airstrike in southern Lebanon

Israel announced that it had killed a Hezbollah commander in an airstrike in the southern Lebanese district of Tire.

The Israeli military said its forces eliminated Hussein Ibrahim Kaseb in a drone attack on his motorcycle.

Kaseb was the commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Special Operations Forces, it said.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency confirmed the attack and said one person was killed.

Hezbollah has not confirmed these allegations.

Fears are growing over the possibility of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah following months of cross-border fire, especially after Hezbollah’s threats of military retaliation following the July 30th killing of its commander-in-chief, Fuad Shukr, in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.

The escalation comes against the backdrop of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that have killed more than 40,000 Palestinians since October last year.
