Israel reprimands Ambassador to BiH for Interference in the Internal Affairs

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs today reprimanded its ambassador to Albania, who is also responsible for Bosnia and Herzegovina, for his interference in the internal affairs of that Balkan country, the Israeli “Haaretz” reported. It was confirmed for BHRT that the BiH Presidency approved the appointment of the new Israeli ambassador to BiH, Galit Peleg.

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who is also foreign minister, ordered the censure of Ambassador Noah Gal Gendler after a Haaretz editorial called his actions “a new low for Israeli diplomacy.”

“At the behest of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yair Lapid, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alon Ushpiz reprimanded the Israeli ambassador to Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina for his behavior in the case that was discussed today in the editorial of ‘Haaretz,'” the ministry said in a statement.

The new ambassador confirmed this information on Twitter, recalling that nine years ago she stayed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and admired its beauty.

“I traveled from Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Mostar. Who would have thought that nine years later I would return as Israel’s ambassador to this country,” she wrote.
