Israeli Security Cabinet approves Ceasefire Agreement

Israel’s security cabinet approves Gaza ceasefire deal, next in line for Israeli government.

A statement from the Israeli prime minister’s office said the cabinet had accepted the deal “after examining all political, security and humanitarian aspects; and with the understanding that the proposed deal supports the achievement of war goals.”

The cabinet also recommended that “the cabinet approve the proposed draft.” The deal will now be forwarded to the full cabinet for discussion and a vote.

Hamas says the obstacles that arose over the terms of the Gaza ceasefire agreement were resolved at dawn today.

Israeli media have published the names of 33 Israeli prisoners who will be released in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.

If approved by the Israeli government and cabinet, the ceasefire agreement could proceed as planned, with the prisoners being released as early as Sunday, according to a statement from the Israeli prime minister’s office.

Israeli attacks are intensifying on densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City and towns on the northern border.

Israel, despite its extensive legal expertise, has failed to properly investigate allegations of war crimes against it during the Gaza war, according to Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has announced that he will cancel all administrative detention orders for Israeli settlers in response to the planned release of some Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire agreement.
