Saed Abu Nabhan, a cameraman for Anadolu Agency in Gaza, was killed by an Israeli army sniper on Friday. Abu Nabhan, 25 years old, had a wife and one child.
In the fatal attack, the Israeli army first surrounded an area in the Al-Jadeed refugee camp, located in the Nuseirat region of the central Gaza Strip, where many journalists were based, before targeting those in the area.
Footage from the scene shows a wounded person being rushed out of the house by rescuers on a stretcher.
Nearby, Abu Nabhan is seen trying to run while covering the event with his gear. At that moment, he becomes a target, and appears to have been hit by a sniper shot.
Abu Nabhan then falls to the ground and remains motionless. People near him approach with difficulty and in fear because of the threat that they themselves will become targets of Israeli bullets.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported the attack, confirming that Abu Nabhan had been killed.
In a separate incident, at least one person was killed, with the dead and injured being taken to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, following an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza.
Abu Nabhan’s death brings the total number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli strikes to 100. on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 to 203. Reports also indicate that 399 journalists have been injured and 43 have been captured.
The Israeli military continues its war on Gaza, which has killed more than 46,000 people, most of them women and children, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a charge of genocide at the International Court of Justice over the war on Gaza, Klix.ba writes.
