Israelis Drop Leaflets From Drones in Lebanon Again, Raising Eyebrows Over Mysterious “106FM” Frequency

In recent days, the Israeli army has dropped numerous messages to the population in the southern part of Lebanon with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles, and many have noticed an unusual detail in this move.

In recent months, reports have emerged in Lebanon about leaflets that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) drones dropped in the south of the country – with direct appeals to the residents.

According to photographs distributed on local networks, the leaflets contain accusations against elements cooperating with Hezbollah, information about those killed, and also explanations for why certain places were attacked.

However, what caught the attention of many is the sentence “For more details – listen to 106FM.”

The radio frequency 106FM was previously assigned to the activities of local radio stations run by universities, faculties, and schools. One of them, Radio Kol HaGalil HaElion, was founded in 1999, before the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanon, and was originally designated as an emergency radio. At first, it broadcast on this frequency, 106FM, but the Lebanese interfered with it, so the frequency was changed to another, 105.3. However, this is not the frequency that the IDF recommends to the Lebanese.

However, when it comes to Lebanon, this frequency does not contain educational programming. Based on numerous reports in recent weeks on Lebanese networks, according to which the IDF is calling for listening to the 106FM frequency, it seems likely that this is an attempt by Israel to directly convey messages to the Lebanese population.

And this is not the only message being conveyed in this way. Earlier this month, it was reported in Lebanon that the IDF dropped a leaflet with a threat addressed to a high-ranking official in the village of Yaroun.

“Mohammad Shahin, are you still afraid?” it said.

Despite the truce, the Israeli army has also, in recent months, carried out a series of strikes on the southern part of Lebanon, and as they stated, all with the goal of dismantling Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in this area.
