The ruling parties at the state level realized the serious warnings by the European Commissioner for Enlargement Štefan Fule, who said that the next elections in BiH cannot fulfill European standards as long as the the decision in the ‘’Sejdić-Finci’’ case is not implemented.
Due to the lack of implementation of this judgment, BiH has halted its process of European integration, as well as the invalidation of all future elections carried out under current legislation and electoral rules.
The ruling coalition of six parties will speak about this at the meeting, which is expected to be held mid-February.
The host of the meeting, the leader of the Alliance for a better future (SBB) Fahrudin Radončić will confirm the exact date of the meeting in consultation with leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), the Croatian Democratic Party of BiH (HDZ), the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) and HDZ 1990.
The main topic of the meeting will finally resolve the “Sejdić – Finci” ruling.
‘’We are all interested, responsible and determined to implement the decision of the European Court. The alternative is isolation and hopelessness for BiH. On the other hand, huge financial funds and the door to Europe are opening up, and we are becoming a part of the European family. The message from Brussels is clear that the 2014 elections will not be fair, honest and will not lead the citizens of this country anywhere’’, said the leader of SBB Radončić.
By spring the latest, BiH has to implement the “Sejdić – Finci” judgment, if it wants to obtain candidate status for the EU this year.
This entails amendments to the Constitution and election law.
The question of elections and the composition of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of BiH is almost agreed upon, and the key problem is a dispute over the way in which members of the Presidency of BiH are elected.
