Italian cooperation gathered 100 000 Dollars as a humanitarian aid for population of Bosnia-Herzegovina which is endangered by the floods caused by heavy rains (most violent, registered in the last 120 years).
This decision of Ministry of foreign affairs of Italy was announced today in Sarajevo by Italian ambassador Ruggero Corrias, as the immediate response of Italian government on the appeals which government of B&H sent to international community.
In condition of national natural disaster which is proclaimed 2 days ago, B&H registered 16 victims, numerous disappeared and 65 000 evacuated families.
Italian contribution, which will be formalized next Monday on the meeting with the minister of foreign affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija, will be confirmed via the International federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent and Bosnian Red Cross, which will be able to buy the main necessities for endangered population.
General directorate of Cooperation for development coordinates and is in the constant relation with Embassies in Serbia and Bosnia, two most endangered countries, announces Fena.
“With 100 000 Dollars given by the Italian cooperation, many of the families, evacuated people, will find shelter, food and medicine”, said Ambassador Corrias from Sarajevo.
“”Decision of Italian government confirms the tradition of solidarity of our country with Bosnian population, and today, our thoughts go to victims’ families, in hope that they will be able to meet with their loved ones soon”, added Corrias.
