Ivo Komsic after visiting the Vatican: Pope Francis loves Sarajevo

The former Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komsic, had the opportunity to meet with Pope Francis for the third time, together with the delegation of the city of Sarajevo, and at the invitation of the Apostolic Nuncio in BiH, Luigi Pezzuto. According to him, they talked about the multiethnicity of our country.

During his visit to our country two years ago, Komsic presented the “Key to the city of Sarajevo” to Pope Francis, which is one of the greatest honors of the city and residents of Sarajevo. For this reason, stated Komsic, he is very grateful that the current mayor of the city of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, had the opportunity to talk with Pope Francis as well.

Like the previous two times when he met with the Pope Francis, Komsic noted that the Pope was not hiding his love for Sarajevo and BiH.

“Pope Francis is very sociable, he likes to socialize and he is not entirely conventional, it is very pleasant to be in his presence, and it is especially comfortable because he really likes Sarajevo and our multiethnicity. In his Easter sermon, Pope said that the multiethnicity is a gift from God. When the highest religious leader says that something is a gift from God, then it is something that cannot be destroyed because it is a sin,” said Komsic.

Asked if Pope Francis mentioned a new visit to BiH, Komsic recalled their last meeting at the Sarajevo Airport that took place two years ago.

“I asked him when he will come again. He laughed and told me that it is not easy. I believe that there are other important places in the world that he needs to visit as well, and I hope that he will find another opportunity to visit BiH,” concluded Komsic.

To recall, besides Komsic and Skaka, the delegation of the city of Sarajevo included Ivica Saric and Milan Trivic. Pope Francis sent a message to our citizens to preserve the multiculturalism and multiconfesionality of our country.
