Jablanica2The 73rd anniversary of the Battle for Wounded on Neretva River and 80 years of fight against fascism, was officially marked yesterday in Jablanica.

Numerous delegations from all over the former Yugoslavia, as well as representatives of political parties from BiH and local authorities, laid wreaths at the memorial museum of “the Battle for Wounded on Neretva River”, and an exhibition of posters “No pasaran”, which is dedicated to the call for revolution for freedom of Spanish nations, as well as photographs and documents and records of soldiers from that period.

Besides the aforementioned, the traditional throwing of 73 carnations from the bridge into the Neretva there took place, under the title “Flower for the wounded soldiers.”

The traditional marking ceremony was organized by SABNOR BiH, together with UABNOR Jablanica and association “Josip Broz Tito” Jablanica and the Museum of “Battle for Wounded on Neretva”, under the auspices of the Federal Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of Defense-liberation War, the Municipality of Jablanica and SABNOR BiH.

President of the SDP BiH, Nermin Niksic, attended the event and stated that he is particularly glad to see many young people at the event, besides those who survived and remember that period.

“I am particularly pleased that, besides those who are alive from the period of the most humane battle in human history, the Battle for the Wounded on the Neretva River, many young people are present. This is an ideology that does not divide and never divided people and I think that it is the future of BiH. It is good to know to which constituent people we belong, Croats, Serbs or Bosniaks, but we must realize that we have one state of BiH, that we are building together, and the better it is to BiH, it will be certainly better to Bosniaks and Croats and Serbs. This is part of our bright history, which belongs to all the constituent peoples and patriots, and that we should all be proud of,” said Niksic.

“We must remember the past, but not to live for her, but to live for the future, and to create light and common future for the future generations”, concluded the President of the SDP BiH, Nermin Niksic.
