love island2The ”Love Island”, a latest film by Bosnian-Herzegovinian director Jasmila Žbanić was screened on SFF.

The film tells the story of Grebo and his wife Liliane who are taking a well-deserved vacation at a popular Adriatic seaside resort. What could possibly go wrong on such an idyllic holiday? But past secrets cannot stay hidden for long on Love Island.

Jasmila Žbanić is a multi-award winning director from Bosnia and Herzegovina. For her most recent film, ”Love Island“, she co-wrote the screenplay with the renowned Bosnian-Herzegovinian author Aleksandar Hemon.

”I am very happy with the reception of my film with the Sarajevo audience, because it is a very demanding audience. Before the premiere we feared about the reception of the film because of its themes, but when the audience applauded at the scene when the two men and two women kissed, we knew we created something special,“ said Žbanić as a guest of the program of the 20th SFF “Coffee with… ”, whose film” Love Island” was aired last night at KSC Skenderija.

Žbanić said that her new film was mix of drama and comedy, and also a musical in a way, which was jointly created with screenwriter Aleksandar Hemon, a well known author of BH origin with an address in Chicago.

Speaking about cooperation with Jasmila Žbanić and about his first screenwriting work, Hemon said their goal was to create “a drama with a happy ending” and that this in a way turned the film into a comedy.
