Jasmina Selimovic, the first Female Governor of the Central Bank of BiH

Yesterday in Sarajevo, the newly appointed Administrative Council of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH) elected Dr. Jasmina Selimovic as Governor of the CBBiH for a term of six years.

Upon her appointment, Governor Selimovic stated that she was proud to be the first female governor in the modern history of BiH, but also aware of the great responsibility that this honorable office carries, and she thanked the members of the Presidency of BiH for the proposal and the members of the Governing Council of the CBBiH for their support.

She announced that the activities of the CBBiH in the coming period will be focused primarily on preserving the currency board, the stability of the Institution, and the work system.

Dr. Jasmina Selimovic replaced Dr. Senad Softic in the position of governor of the CBBiH. The newly appointed governor, who is also the chairperson of the Governing Council of the CBBiH, has a doctorate in economic sciences. Since 2004, she has been employed at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, at the Department of Finance, and at the Department for Quantitative Economics.

She completed her postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, Business Economics, majoring in Actuarial and Insurance. In the United States (U.S.), she prepared and defended her doctoral dissertation in the field of actuarial science at the Faculty of Economics. Currently, as a full professor, she teaches courses in the fields of Finance, Quantitative Economics, and Actuarial Science at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo.

By decision of the Presidency of BiH, she was appointed as a member of the Administrative Council of the Central Bank of BiH, for a term of six years, starting on January 1st, 2024, the CBBiH announced.
