Joint Contact of Center Bijača – Nova Sela Open

bijaca0808At the international border crossing Bijača – Nova Sela (on side of Croatia) the joint center Bijača – Nova Sela was officially opened yesterday.

The Director of the European Agency conducted the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the EU Ilka Laitin.

The contact center was opened on the basis of the Protocol signed between the BIH Border Police and the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia on the establishment of the joint contact center on the border crossing Bijača (BIH) – Nova Sela (Croatia) in March 2013.

The contact center was established with the aim of analyzing and exchanging information relevant to a coherent and effective cross-border police cooperation in implementing the state border, preventing illegal migration, combatting cross-border crime, ensuring public safety, assisting in the implementation of the agreement between the Council of Ministers of BIH and Croatia on the readmission of people whose stay is illegal, as well as other areas of cooperation under the Agreement of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Craotia on cooperation in border control.

The main tasks of the center are to prevent hazards and to ensure public safety, protection of life and health of people and property, combat cross-border crime, improve and initiate the strengthening of cross-border police cooperation and the exchange information on the area of police work, coordination of joint activities and other tasks at the joint state border, mutual assistance in the implementation of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of BIH and Croatia on the readmission of persons whose entry or stay is illegal and the implementation of other forms of cross-border cooperation.

The Director of the BIH Border Police Vinki Dumančić and the Mayor of the Border Administration of the Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs Zlatko Sokolar also attended the opening ceremony, announced the BIH Border Police.
