Joint Electronic Toll Collection for BiH and Croatia

With the aim of realizing benefits for highway users, a meeting was held in Zagreb on Friday between representatives of Public Utility Motorways (Autoceste) of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and representatives of Croatian Motorways where an agreement was reached regarding the binding of electronic toll collection with the aim of improving the quality of services to the satisfaction of end users.

One of the important novelties is the possibility of users with ACC TAG/ENC devices passing through the toll stations located in the territory of the mentioned countries without stopping and paying the toll contactless using the ACC TAG/ENC device, as announced by Motorways of FBiH.

Namely, this means that fees for the use of sections of the highway in the FBiH, which are under the management of Motorways of FBiH, will be able to be paid at toll stations with an ENC device, just as fees for the use of sections of the highway in the Republic of Croatia, which are under the management of Croatian Motorways, will be able to be paidwith an ACC TAG device.

The statement says that the costs for users will remain the same because they are TAGs of the same type, only that users, with prior registration at the toll booth, will have two accounts installed on one TAG/ENC device where one of them will be intended for the registration of passage on the part of the FBiH, and the other on the part of the Republic of Croatia, whereby automatic payment will be made in favor of one or another public company.

It is noted that the introduction of the mentioned possibilities will increase traffic safety and reduce congestion on the highways because there are no stops due to tolling, which consequently results in an increase in traffic flow and a reduction in harmful emissions caused by traffic jams and queues.

In the coming week, the FBiH Highways will start testing in order to achieve complete device compatibility within the electronic toll collection system so that the system will soon be released for users, the press release concluded.
