Mayor of Sarajevo Benjamina Karic and Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milan Dunovic, held a meeting yesterday to discuss the construction of a monument to their fellow citizens killed at the Kazani site.

The joint statement said that the Cabinet of the Vice President of the Federation of BiH launched this initiative during the mandate of Svetozar Pudaric, and for that purpose certain funds were allocated from the Cabinet budget to the budget of the City of Sarajevo in 2012.

Unfortunately, to this day, there has been no will or sensibility to do anything about it.

Mayor Karic expressed her readiness to, in cooperation with Vice President Dunovic, initiate the solution of this problem in order to remove the burden of responsibility from our fellow citizens and honorable defense of the City of Sarajevo, and in that way pay tribute to the killed victims.

In this regard, it was agreed that the city announces a public call for the conceptual design of the monument as soon as possible, and Dunovic expressed his readiness to finance the construction of the access path and the memorial plaque.
