Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has announced that she is undergoing preventive chemotherapy after successful abdominal surgery during which she was diagnosed with cancer.

“The surgery was successful, however, post-surgery tests revealed that the cancer was present. My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of treatment,” the princess said in a video statement.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the Princess of Wales should be given privacy to focus on her treatment and stay with her family.

“The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the entire country as she continues her recovery. She showed tremendous courage with her statement today,” Sunak said in a statement.

Sunak added that during the last few weeks she was unfairly and intensively in the center of attention of certain media around the world and on social networks.

“When it comes to health issues, like everyone else, she must be given privacy to focus on her treatment and to be with her loving family,” the prime minister said, Srna news agency writes.
