Due to the forecasted low temperatures, the Winter Service of KJKP “Rad”, Sarajevo’s public utility company responsible for waste collection and street maintenance, carried out preventive salting of roads and pedestrian areas included in the winter maintenance plan and program.

As stated by the company, alongside these activities, coordinated operations were conducted in the field with waste collection teams. These included snow removal and salting of roadways, as well as clearing snow in front of waste containers to enable easier emptying.

“In total, 6,486,700 square meters of roads and pedestrian areaswere cleared, including 4,210,404 square meters of first–priority areas, 1,894,562 square meters of second–priority, 362,119 square meters third–priority, and 109,365 square meters of fourth-priority. A total of 149,590 kg of spreading material was used (salt, aggregate and CaCl2 – calcium chloride for wet application),” the statement said.

Waste collection teams collected approximately 505 tons of waste yesterday, and these activities will continue in order to fully normalize waste disposal services.

“We ask citizens for patience and understanding,” the company added.
