In the context of Milorad Dodik’s reactions to the High Representative’s moves, Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljko Komsic said that Dodik was, in fact, just recycling the story and still getting into trouble.
Komsic said this, commenting on a journalist’s question regarding Dodik’s announcement that the RS law on real estate would come into force, which, meanwhile, was annulled by High Representative Christian Schmidt, citing the Bonn authorities.
“He will not pay the price of everything he does and declares, because he lives well. This will be paid for by the people in RS, and he is the one who cancels cooperation programs, assistance programs with certain countries, either the European Union or the United Kingdom,” said Komsic.
He underlined that it is up to the people in RS to recognize what Dodik is doing and where he is leading them, stating that with each of his meaningless statements he is leading them into a far worse economic, social and political situation.
“Whatever he has done cannot go beyond the fact that there is a BiH Constitution, that Christian Schmidt is a High Representative, like it or not, and that he has the powers he used in this case with reason and right,” Komsic said, expressing regret that the High Representative did not repeal other laws passed by the NARS contrary to the Constitution and applicable state laws.
Asked further about Schmidt’s visit to Belgrade, Komsic said the High Representative was seeking support from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for the move he made.
He added that it should not be forgotten that Serbia was very interested in using the state property of BiH with the RS, recalling the “stories” about hydroelectric power plants on the Drina River …
Komsic believes that Schmidt will seek support from Vucic and that in some way the President of Serbia is trying to reason with Dodik, at the same time, expressing doubt that this is more possible.
“Dodik simply has to give an account to those he swears by, and that is the people in RS, and I hope that people there will understand where he is taking them,” he said.
Referring to the announcement that the annulled law will be published in the Official Gazette, Komsic said that Dodik could do nothing but the decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court and the High Representative, and that his “story” did not produce any legal consequences.
Asked about the possibility of Russia leaving the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), he said he believes Russia will not do so.
