The Pristina government made a decision at a telephone session to abolish tariff rates on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.
The decision to abolish tariff rates on other goods will come into force on April 1, announced the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
The government phone call for a decision to selectively abolish tariff rates was not voted on by ministers from the Democratic League of Kosovo, whose view is that tariff rates on all goods from Serbia and BiH should be abolished, Srna news agency reported. This decision obliges the Kosovo Ministry of Finance and Customs to act on it.
Serbia’s media reports that European Foreign Minister Joseph Borell spoke with Kurti on Friday and reiterated the EU’s request for a tax cut. Earlier on Friday, Kurti proposed abolishing taxes on raw materials from Serbia and BiH and signed a document that the government was considering.
One hundred percent taxes on all goods from Serbia and BiH were introduced in November 2018.
