The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, on the eve of the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, said that the European Union (EU) and its institutions must define themselves more clearly and decisively towards the enlargement process.

“It is a great pleasure for me to participate in the Bled Strategic Forum. The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, is with us at today’s meeting. Of course, there are also the prime ministers of all countries from this region, and all of this speaks to the importance of this Bled Summit for all of us. Today’s summit was preceded by a working dinner with the prime ministers from this region, and the topic was the process of European integration and all other topics related to this process,” said Kristo and added:

“The topic of our panel today will be the process of enlargement to the countries of this region. I want to say that the European Union and its institutions, and I expect that they will say this at the Bled Summit, must be more clearly and decisively determined towards the process of enlargement.”

She also expressed the hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will very soon open the negotiation process for joining the EU.

“I can say in front of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina that we have made a huge step forward in terms of harmonizing our legislation with the European Union and of course in terms of meeting the requirements of the opinion of the European Commission. We expect that the representatives of the European institutions will be able to recognize this and that very soon Bosnia and Herzegovina to open the negotiation process for joining the EU,” she said.

She added that she held a series of bilateral meetings with other officials as part of the Bled Strategic Forum.

“At these meetings, we discussed bilateral relations, economic integration, and everything in the context of good regional cooperation and the common interest and goal for which we are here, which is the process of enlargement, that is, accession to the European Union,” said Kristo.

The Bled Forum is being held on the topic “Solidarity for Global Security”.
