Krug 99 Calls Citizens to Gather in Front of the OHR Ahead of PIC Session

The Association of Independent Intellectuals, Krug 99, and the Krug 99 Youth Forum have called on citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in a peaceful gathering in front of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in Sarajevo on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00 p.m., ahead of the upcoming session of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC).

The PIC session is expected to address decisions significant for the political future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Krug 99 stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing serious political challenges, which, they note, raise questions about its sovereignty, institutional stability, and political future.

“What was not achieved through aggression, siege, ethnic cleansing, and genocide in Srebrenica is now being attempted through political pressure, institutional weakening, and the deepening of divisions,” the statement said.

They also emphasized that, despite the positive atmosphere created by the successes of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, the importance of preserving state sovereignty and territorial integrity must not be forgotten.

Using football terminology, Krug 99 stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing a “political play-off of sorts,” which requires responsibility, wisdom, and decisiveness.

A special appeal was made to the youth, with the message that the future of the country depends on their willingness to be active and responsible citizens.

“Enough with the passivity. This is the moment of responsibility toward the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Krug 99 stated.
