Large amount of illegal weapons seized in BiH

Members of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) entity police found and seized on Monday a great amount of professional illegal weapons in the city of Gradiska, some 260 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo.

During the raid of a house, garage, and auxiliary facilities, members of the Directorate for Combating Terrorism and Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska (MUPRS) found one of the biggest number of illegal weapons aimed for smuggling, MUPRS official website stated.

Under the operation code-named “Nisan”, police officers found and seized 59 military and hunting illegal rifles, 20 guns, 11,222 pieces of ammunition of various caliber, 1 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade, 16 landmines, 32 hand grenades, 2 TNT explosives and other small ammunition.

A person with a temporary stay in Switzerland will be deprived of liberty and MUPRS members will continue activities in the forthcoming period to identify other persons that may be linked to this criminal offense, MUPRS stated.
