Large Tunnel to be built in Sarajevo?

tunnelThe Government of Canton Sarajevo approved the construction of urban road Transversal section II (Bare – tunnel Kobilja Glava – Hotonj).

For the construction was allocated a total of 101,158,140.97 BAM, as it was planned by the Public Investment Program of Canton Sarajevo for the period 2017-2019.

With the plan for the construction of primary city roads, as priority projects of the Ministry of Transport were determined I transversal, XII transversal and South longitudinal. According to the Conclusion of the Government of CS, these projects will be financed by credit funds since budget funds are not sufficient for such large projects. Since credit funds were provided in the structure of financing, Canton Sarajevo will access the procedure of borrowing.

Considering the fact that the total estimated value of the project of I transversal is over 300 million BAM, the realization of the project was planned in three sections: I section Kranjceviceva – Bare, II section Bare – tunnel Kobilja Glava – Hotonj and III section Hotonj – Josanica.

After a couple of joint meetings with all interested parties and participants in the project, the joint commitment is to realize the priority section II which is a key part of the construction of the tunnel Kobilja Glava.

This section should be a priority for realization due to the possibility of resolving property rights and the period required for the construction of the tunnel Kobilja Glava, which is key for the realization of the entire project. This would greatly improve the conditions of the traffic on the main road M-18, more precisely on the connection of Sarajevo with Vogosca, where are present retentions, traffic jams, loss of time and columns on a daily basis.

“The construction of this part of the road would speed up traffic flow, reduce the time of travel, increase the level of service and traffic safety and made driving conditions easier,” as said in the statement of CS.
