VH-MESS-Teatar-26-03-2014-2Directed by famous Luke Perceval and performed by the Thalia Theatre from Hamburg and the NT Theatre from Gent, the play “Front” will open on October 3rd at 20:00 o’clock at the National Theatre Sarajevo this year’s International Theatre Festival Mess. This year, Mess will host 25 shows from 17 countries.

Thanks to the long-standing partnership and friendship with the Goethe Institute and the German Embassy in B&H, besides this one, another play made in co-production of Germany, B&H, Turkey and Serbia will be performed at this year’s Mess. It is the play entitled “Battle field of memories” and directed by one of the world’s most famous authors of the documentary theatre Hans Werner Kroesinger. It will be performed on October 11th at 20:00 o’clock at SARTR.

German plays

On this occasion, the following guests were present at the yesterday’s press conference: Charlotte Hermelink, director of the Goethe Institute in B&H, Jens Wagner, the culture and press attaché of the German Embassy in Sarajevo, Selma Spahić, the art coordinator and selector of the program and Irma Alimanović – Alihodžić, the coordinator of the workshops Future MESS IYMT.

When it comes to art dimensions of the cooperation, Selma Spahić pointed out:

“The German plays marked the Festival’s etic, set artistic and innovation criteria and had a great effect on the great number of our artists. The German Theatre is one of the most influential ones in Europe for the past few decades. The Director Hermelink said that she is very pleased to cooperate with MESS and that the cooperation was enabled by the generosity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany which financed it while Wagner emphasized that he is very pleased that the audience in Sarajevo will have the chance to watch the newest version of the famous novel by Remark “All quiet at the Western front”.

Future MESS

Future MESS IYMT workshops 2014 are open for applications until September 30 and the participation is free – stated Irma Alimanović-Alihodžić, the coordinator of the workshops and announced two more workshops to be held on October 3rd with Paolo Maggeli and on October 11th with Jan Lauwers in Ars Aevy as well as the workshops led by Alexander Kelly and Jorge Andrade (on October 10th and 11th at BKC) and by Takahiro Fujita on October 12th at the National Theeatre Sarajevo.
