Life in Jablanica is trying to return to a more normal state after the disaster and severe floods for locals. Locals and neighbors, as well as numerous teams on the field, help in this. Damages are still being tallied, and those whose homes have been damaged or completely destroyed are waiting for promised help. However, everything that is material can be compensated, say the locals, but not the lost lives.
Zilhad Bajramovic saved many neighbors during floods and landslides in Donja Jablanica. There is no life and return to the place where the neighbors died, he says.
“Nothing, as far as those impressions have changed for the better. People lend a helping hand, they come to home addresses because they know where someone is located, they help, we are all united. There is really a lot of response from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), even from outside, people come from other countries, they help to clean it, to put it in order,“ said Zilhad Bajramovic, resident.
Ground cleaning actions are still being carried out, work is being done to eliminate defects, and living conditions are being created in flooded areas.
“We managed to establish a smooth flow of electricity, we are working on fixing the faults in the last houses here in Donja Jablanica, as regards the water supply. In the coming period, when all the houses are cleaned, when all the material and sludge that is in the houses is thrown out, we will need a dryer, we will need a heater, cold periods are coming,“ told Sabahudin Spahovic, Federal Administration of Civil Protection.
Some with relatives, others in collective centers, they lost houses, relatives, friends, neighbors, every day is difficult, but no one will be left without help, and new homes will be built.
“It is very difficult to say what to do next, first we have to listen to these people. A large number of them will not even want to, although it is still early, the wounds are still open, we will fulfill what people want, no one will be left alone, we will take care of everyone,“ explained Damir Sabanovic, mayor of Jablanica.
The roads in Donja Jablanica were open yesterday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and only for vehicles that came to the collective funeral, and considering that the burial for the victims of floods and landslides was also organized at the local cemetery in Donja Jablanica.
