The six-year-old lioness who has been in the Sarajevo zoo since the beginning of March has been released from quarantine, confirmed the administrator of the recreation and entertainment center of Pionirska Dolina Esad Tajić to Fena.
‘’The veterinary inspector has closed the quarantine for the lioness. In the next 15 days or so, we will occasionally put the lion and lioness closer together. They will get to know one another through bars, and in around 15 days we hope that they will be together and available for our visitors’’, said Tajić.
He stressed that the lioness is in good health and could soon expect offspring.
‘’When a lioness is pregnant, she carries for 110 days, so we expect that the lion and lioness could receive offspring for 120-130 days’’, said Tajić.
He added that it would be an attraction when people meet the lions.
The lioness in the Sarajevo zoo was delivered in early March by the zoo from Osijek, Croatia.
