The medical condition of 12-year-old Mehmed Sabic from Gracanica, who has been in Zagreb for medical treatment for 10 days, is improving by the day. Today, he will undergo another surgery, according to his father Nedin Sabic.

“Meho will have his fourth surgery today. It’s a major surgery for his arms. His medical treatment in Zagreb should probably last four or five more months,” Nedim Sabic says.

On July 15th, Mehmed was injured in a fire in a side building near his family home. He was transported to the University Clinical Center Tuzla, from where he was transferred to Zagreb on July 19th, namely to the Clinic for Children’s Diseases, known as Klaiceva.

The boy had burns on 65% of his body and his medical condition was very difficult.

“Compared to how he was before, he’s now stable. He’s still in the shock room, but he’s awake and ware. Tree days ago, he drank his first sip after the accident,” Nedim Sabic says.

Immediately after the accident, donation drives were started to help pay for his medical expenses. They started in Gracanica, then expanded to all of BiH and even abroad. It’s impossible to predict how long it’ll last and how much it’ll cost. What is sure, though, is that a long and difficult battle lies ahead.

By calling 17002, you can held little Mehmed Sabic. This number is common to all operators and by calling it, you donate 2BAM.

Besides calling 17002, you can help by paying into Mehmed’s parents’ account.
