Long Retentions at the Border Crossings in BiH

The first day of the weekend in the summer season always brings crowds on the roads to the south of the country, as well as at most border crossings. This is also the case this morning, especially on the M-17 highway, from Sarajevo to Mostar and further towards the border crossings with the Republic of Croatia.

Extremely warm weather requires drivers to start long journeys in the early morning or evening hours. If you are traveling in the hottest part of the day, take more frequent breaks and drink enough water. Be rested and concentrated, protect your life and the lives of other road users. We also ask cyclists, motorcyclists, users of electric scooters, as well as pedestrians to be careful and obey all traffic regulations.

Traffic on the Jajce-Crna Rijeka main road has been suspended due to work on the rehabilitation of escarpments and unstable slopes. Vehicles are diverted to the road via Jezera and Mrkonjić Grad towards Crna Rijeka.

Still on the main road Rogatica-Ustiprača, due to damage to the bridge, vehicles up to 30 tons are traveling in one lane, while traffic is suspended for vehicles over 30 tons.

Rehabilitation works are current on the main roads: Kladanj-Vlasenica, Prozor-Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje, Foča-Ustikolina, Dobro Polje-Miljevina, Bijeljina-Rača, Čevljanovići-Nišići and Semizovac-Srednje. Traffic is slow at other work sites.

At the Bosanska Gradiška border crossing there are long lines of passenger vehicles in both directions. At the border crossings: Izačić, Doljani, Gabela Polje, Prisika and Osoje, the frequency of passenger vehicles at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased, and at the crossings: Velika Kladuša, Bosanska Kostajnica and Gradina there are crowds at the entrance to our country. At other border crossings, the detentions are, for now, no longer than 30 minutes.

By the end of August, the Krstac border crossing (on the Gacko-Nikšić road) was opened for passenger traffic.

Traffic for vehicles over 5 tons of the maximum permissible weight is prohibited at the Karakaj border crossing (near Zvornik). Freight vehicles over 5 t are diverted to the Bratunac or Rača border crossings, while buses can use GP Šepak.
