The British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Julian Reilly, conveyed on his Twitter the message of the special envoy of the British Prime Minister for the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach, who reacted to Milorad Dodik’s threats to the High Representative Christian Schmidt.

In his message on social networks, Peach emphasized his support for the high representative, pointing out that Dodik’s actions have inevitable consequences.

“Dodik’s threats to obstruct the work and movement of the High Representative are illegal, unconstitutional, and are an escalation of his attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement and the state of BiH. Such actions have inevitable consequences. The United Kingdom (UK) fully supports the High Representative and his obligations to carry out his responsibilities throughout the country, ” Peach said in a message shared by Reilly on Twitter.

To recall, the spokesperson of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Yves Le Drian, reacted to Dodik’s threats by emphasizing that Dodik’s allegations ofbanning Schmidt’s entry into the BiH entity of Republika Srpska (RS) represent an attack on the constitutional order of BiH.

Dodik’s relationship with Schmidt is more than specific, and at times even symptomatic. Two years have passed since the appointment of Schmidt to the position of High Representative. From that August 2021 until today, the authorities from the RS have never accepted or recognized the legitimacy of Schmidt, disputing his lack of confirmation in the United Nations (UN).
