Lower Number of Students who enrolled in University Studies recorded in BiH

In the academic year 2018/2019, there were 87.548 students enrolled in winter semester of the first cycle of higher education, including integrated studies, out of which75.580 students were enrolled in all study years, while 11.968 were candidates for graduation.

In 2018 there were 14.220 students who graduated/completed academic or professional studies, which was 2,5 % lower in comparison with the previous year. Out of the total number of graduate students, 59 % were female.

While 3,7% of students graduated according to the “old” program, 96,3% graduated/completed academic or professional studies according to the Bologna compliant program.

According to BiH’s Agency for Statistics, out of the total number of graduate students, 6,7% graduated from schools of higher education and 93,3% from universities.

In the academic year 2018/2019, there were 10.122 teachers and assistants employed in higher education institutions. Presented by the full-time equivalent, total number of teachers and assistants was 7.291,1. Shares of teachers and assistants working full-time and working part-time were 52,7% and 47,3% respectively.

Compared to the academic year 2017/2018, the total number of teachers and assistants in the academic year 2018/2019 is 0,3% lower. Out of the total number of teachers and assistants, 45 % were women.

In the school year 2018/2019, on the territory of BiH, there were 117.764 pupils enrolled in 313 schools, which was 6.384 pupils less or 5,1 % lower in comparison with the previous year. In the school year 2018/2019, there were 12.559 teachers included in the education process, out of which 7.737 or 61,6 % were women.

Тechnical schools were attended by 55,1%, while 22,8% pupils attended grammar schools and 18,9% of them attended vocational schools.

At the end of the school year 2017/2018, there were 33.017 pupils who completed secondary school, which was 1.256 pupils more or 4% higher in comparison with the end of the school year 2016/2017. The percentage ratio of male and female pupils who completed school was 50,4% male and 49,6% female.
