Magazinovic: Eichhorst does not have the Support of EU Ambassadors, the Elections are questionable

What does the change in Milorad Dodik’s rhetoric essentially mean? How likely is the unblocking of state institutions? Why is no one dealing with corruption? Sasa Magazinovic has asnwers.

“I always separate Americans and Europeans, and my experience is that when we worked with the Americans, the biggest reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) were achieved with the help of the United States (U.S.), for example, defense reform. We were closest to the constitutional reforms when we did it with the Americans, and that is the April package, ” Magazinovic pointed out.

Also, he told that with Europeans, things are a little different.

“They have been teaching us for years that in BiH we should speak with one voice. Even the coordination mechanism, which I still think is bad, is actually a European formula for how we will speak with one voice. Well, even they don’t speak with one voice. The question is, whose views does Angelina Eichhorst represent? Are these the positions of the European Parliament – they are not. I talked in Brussels with European parliamentarians with several colleagues from BiH and we came to the same conclusion: she does not represent the views of the European Parliament. Are these the positions of the European Commission– they are not. Let’s see when the European Commission said that this is the solution for BiH. Is it in line with European values to put an ethnic group in the center of attention instead of a human? No, it is not. Is there such an example anywhere in the European Union (EU)? The question then arises, whose views does this woman represent? And that is exactly the question that will be asked by dozens of members of the European Parliament.“

Magazinovic added that Eichhorst does not have the support of the EU ambassador to BiH. He said that he does not want to mention names, but that it is not true that all ambassadors of EUcountries support what she is trying to do in BiH.

“Some are even appalled at how far the EU administration is willing to go in relation to European values. And in private conversations with them, you will hear a lot, and if Germany in the next 10-15 days comes out with a completely opposite position, for which we have an announcement, which means that elections should be held and then discuss the Election Law, then it is quite the opposite from what some officials from European structures promote. Why and who is doing it – it is a long story and we could only start speculating, ” said Magazinovic.

He mentioned that, when it comes to the October elections, he would not bet that they will be held.

“The law is very clear: there is no budget – no choice. If we go back to the local elections, they were prolonged and held outside the legal deadline because there was no budget. Only when we adopted the budget they were held. We are in 2022 today, we did not have an adopted budget for 2021. These “destructive individuals” say it is possible, so they can do it without a budget. I am not very optimistic that the budget will be adopted because the budget and the holding of elections, as well as many other topics, are used as an argument for evaluation, ” said Magazinovic.
