Maintaining Peace and Stability: COM EUFOR and High Representative Reaffirm Shared Commitment

Commander EUFOR, Major General Fronda, hosted the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Christian Schmidt in Camp Butmir to discuss the current political and security environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the continued importance of maintaining stability throughout the country.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Commander NATO HQ Sarajevo Brigadier General Fowler, the officials exchanged perspectives on regional developments, the wider international security environment, and the importance of preserving peace, stability, and institutional functionality within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Major General Fronda reaffirmed EUFOR’s unwavering commitment to its mandate in support of a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Discussions also highlighted the importance of close cooperation between domestic institutions and international partners in maintaining long-term stability and public confidence.

The Commander emphasised that EUFOR remains ready, capable, and committed to carrying out its mission in an impartial, transparent, and professional manner, while continuing to maintain a visible presence throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking following the meeting, Major General Fronda stated:

“EUFOR remains firmly committed to supporting peace and stability throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. In an increasingly uncertain global security environment, maintaining stability, supporting institutional resilience, and preserving a safe and secure environment for all citizens remains of fundamental importance. Our mission continues to demonstrate the strong commitment of the international community to peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

High Representative Schmidt welcomed EUFOR’s continued presence and underlined the important role played by Operation Althea in contributing to stability and reassurance throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong cooperation between EUFOR and the Office of the High Representative, as well as their shared commitment to preserving peace, stability, and security throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
