In Stolac this year, from 8-28 July, there will be a cultural and entertainment event entitled “Vrtovi Stoca, Vrt Evrope” organized by the French Cultural Center “André Malraux”.
The Spokesperson for the “André Malraux” center Selma Čampara told Fena that his is the sixth festival and it will consist of film screenings in the open, exhibitions, workshops for children, lectures, and a summer school for architecture.
“For students theoretical and practical classes will be organized, and this year “Vrtovi Stoca” will host more than 30 BiH, Serbian and French students (from the area of landscape architecture, architecture, agriculture, horticulture, and biology_ that will be led by renowned landscape architect and Professor of landscape architecture Gilles Clement, who will work on conceptual designs for the public space in Stolac’’, said Čampara.
Students will come from state schools from Bordeaux, Versailles, Blois, the Forestry and Natural Sciences Faculty in Sarajevo and the Forestry Faculty in Belgrade.
As part of the cultural program, well-known French cartoonist Jacques Ferrandez will present his new album, an adaptation of Albert Camus’ “Foreigner” and he will hold a drawing workshop with participants of the festival and fans of comic books.
“The manifestation will begin tonight and there will not be an official opening, but there will be a huge celebration on 17 July on occasion of the publishing of the book, where we will organize an exhibition of Jacques Ferrandez’s works from the book “The Foreigner”’’, said Čampara.
The seven day theatre workshop for young Francophone amateur actors led by French theatre director Gilberte Tsai.
In partnership with the Association “Orhideja”, it is expected there will be creative workshops for children and open cinema. For the youngest ones, there will be screenings of cartoons, and for older people there will be French movies and classics shown.
The manifestation will be held in various locations in Stolac. On the last day of the manifestation, on 28 July, there will be an exhibition of students that will be participants at the drawing workshop.
