zemaljski_muzej_sarajevo_bihThe National Museum of BiH was reopened exactly one year ago, after the doors of this cultural institution have been closed for visitors for three years, due to a series of issues. Management of the Museum presented the resume of the annual work and activities that were implemented with 25 percent less employees than in 2012.

Last year, the National Museum implemented a number of activities: improvement of communciation with the audience, establishment of international cooperation with similar institutions and continuation of work on research and presentation of material and non-material cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In one year, the Museum was visited by more than 80.000 guests who had the opportunity to attend around 30 different events, exhibitions, seminars and gatherings. The number of sold tickets amounts to 51.150, bringing nearly 290.000 BAM of income to the Museum. Income was also generated from the sale of souvenirs, publications, and through donations.

Acting director of the National Museum of BiH Mirsad Sijarić emphasized that this would not be possible without continuous support from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, UNESCO and municipalities that paid more than 300.000 BAM to the account of the Museum last year through memorandums of understanding.

dijarić added that the fact is that museum has a huge potential. They are now preparing three guest exhibitions and one museum exhibition and they are also working on the exhibition “BiH in prehistoric period”.
