Sarajevo Horse Riders Started Toward Ajvatovica Today

SARAJEVSKI KONJANICI KRENULI U POHOD NA AJVATOVICUMembers of the equestrian club “Hidalgo” from Sarajevo started today the 8th traditional equestrian march , which will end with participation at the event of Ajvatovica 2014.

Horse riders in traditional Bosnian folk costumes departed from the park “At Mejdan” at 9:00 and the flag of the Municipality Stari Grad was handed over by the Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić.

Due to the ceremony, the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton allowed a temporary suspension of traffic for the street shares 1: from At mejdana – Obala Isa beg Ishaković street – Latinska ćuprija – Obala Kulina bana street – Zelenih beretki street until Muhamed Kantardžić street, from 09:00 to 09:20 hr, share 2 – from Muhamed Kantardžić street – Ferhadija, from Maršala Tita,  at 09.15 until 10. share 3: from Vječne vatre (eternal flame – Maršala Tita – toward Marijin dvor –  Zmaja od Bosne street, until National Museum, from 09:40 until 11:00 hr.

Alternative routes during traffic change on share 3: – Dženetića čikma – Pehlivanuša – Petrakijina – Mehmed-paše Sokolovića – Maršala Tita – Dalmatinska – Mejtaš – Maršala Tita – Trampina – Mehmeda Spahe – Dalmatinska – Mejtaš – Čekaluša – Branilaca Sarajeva – Mis Irbina – Reisa Džemaludina Čauševića – Obala Kulina bana – Koševo – Džidžikovac – Alipašina – Kranjčevića and Maršala Tita – Kranjčevića. Regulating of the traffic flow on the parts of full suspension and intersections where traffic is directed to alternative routes will be conducted by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, in stages, depending on the speed of column movement.

This year is expected a record number of riders that follow the tradition of Ajvatovica, the largest Muslim pilgrimage sites in Europe, announced the Department of Public Relations of the Old Town of Sarajevo.
