March 8 Protest in Sarajevo: “I Want to Live from My Work!”

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the 8th of March protest march was organized in Sarajevo today under the slogan “I want to live from my work!” for dignified work, job security and equal pay.

The 8th of March March 2025 was organized by an informal group of activists from Bosnia and Herzegovina for working conditions worthy of living, against unpaid and underpaid work in Bosnia and Herzegovina and for a better life for all of us.

A message was sent to the powerful, the authorities and employers that female workers are not slaves and that they will not remain silent while they profit and exploit them.

It was announced that today’s march is in solidarity with women whose rights are systematically violated, whether they are underpaid, forced to work weekends and overtime without compensation and annual leave, or subjected to mobbing and sexual harassment in the workplace.

It was also pointed out that women on the labor market are doubly marginalized because they do not have paid leave to take care of children, because as soon as they become pregnant they lose their job or the chance to get a job, and because they are paid less than their colleagues for the same work.
