The right-winger Marine Le Pen was accused of financial fraud, which lasted 12 years.
According to the prosecution, Le Pen and her colleagues from the National Front and National Gathering parties used money intended to pay assistants to MEPs to pay people who did work for the party in France.
She denied all the accusations.
In the event that she is convicted of such acts, the maximum sentence is up to 10 years in prison, and there is also the possibility of a ban on political activity.
