During the past eight days, Sarajevo was alive with film – hundreds of productions from all over the world, premieres, conversations with authors and audience meetings with actors and directors marked the Sarajevo Film Festival. And all of that brought a unique and unusual atmosphere to Sarajevo, making it the center of a film and tourist destination. In Dnevnik 2, Maja Begtašagić spoke with SFF director Jovan Marjanović.

“One very good edition of SFF is behind us. This is a year that will be remembered for good films. This will be a record edition in terms of the number of visitors,” he said.

He is happy, he says, that the number of young audiences is increasing.

“It sends a message that film has a future as a medium. Festivals as meeting places are something that new generations recognize. This is the creation of very good habits, we see a lot of young audiences in cinemas, and that’s wonderful,” said Marjanović.

The 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, the most important regional film event and one of the leading cultural festivals in Southeast Europe, was closed on Friday evening with an awards ceremony.

The festival, which opened on August 15 with the world premiere of the Bosnian film “Paviljon” directed by Dino Mustafić, brought a rich program over eight days with hundreds of screenings, guest appearances by international stars and the promotion of new film talents.
