Marking 100 Years of First World War

mostThe French Ambassador to BiH Roland Gilles, Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić and the President of the Foundation “Sarajevo, Heart of Europe” Jasmina Pašalić, in the presence of representatives of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs will present in Sarajevo today a program of cultural, commemorative, intellectual and sporting events and other projects selected for June 2014, the year that will mark the 100 years since the start of the First World War.

The presentation of events in the framework of the program of marking 100 years since the beginning of the First World War and the thirtieth Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo will be held at the Olympic Museum in Zetra starting at 11:00.

What will be presented is: Agreement between Sarajevo, French Embassy and French Mission to mark the centenary of the First World War, whose goal is to provide support in the organization of cultural, commemorative and sporting events that would convey a message of reconciliation and peace.

The events of international importance, expected to take place from 21-28 June 2014 and which gathers BiH and international organizations and public figures, will be organized in Sarajevo and throughout BiH.
