Ivo_Kom?i?_slika-1The Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić will visit today the Children’s Home BiH in Sarajevo. This will be an opportunity to become more informed on the organization that is this year’s winner of the April 6 Awards, a family model of care that nurtures the SOS home in Sarajevo and Gračanica, as well as all other programs that this organization is implementing.

The visit is an opportunity to talk about the plans and steps that the organization SOS Children’s Home wants to ensure the best possible conditions for the care of children without parental care and children in need. Komšić will visit an SOS family with his colleagues.

The organization SOS Children’s Home BIH, through a family care model, is currently taking care of 278 boys and girls and young people without parents in 28 SOS families.

The concept is to support independence. In BiH there are two SOS homes (Sarajevo and Gračanica), in which, through a family model of care, ensures a warm and safe place for the upbringing of children.

According to the concept of SOS, in every SOS family home there is an SOS mother with six or seven children, and this makes up an SOS family.

Besides the two SOS Children’s home, the organization operates a program “Strengthening Family” (in Sarajevo, Mostar and Goražde), SOS Social Center “Hermann Gmeiner” in Sarajevo, SOS nursery in Sarajevo, Mostar and Goražde, and a mobile-educational program Superbus.
