The Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić met the Ambassador of Hungary to B&H Jozef Pandur yesterday. The Mayor spoke with the Ambassador on the administrative and legal status of Sarajevo as the capital city of B&H, the way in which the City of Sarajevo functions, its territorial organization, and responsibilities and sources of funding, announced the Press Office of the City of Sarajevo.
Ambassador Pandur spoke of the friendly relations between the capital cities of B&H and Hungary, which was confirmed by a royal charter on cooperation that was signed in 1995 in Sarajevo.
‘’These relations should continue to jointly promote the realization of concrete projects for the benefit of citizens of both countries’’, said the Hungarian Ambassador.
Mayor Komšić thanked the Hungarian government for the donations that were used for the renovation of the façade of City Hall. He also called on this friendly country to become involved in the event to mark the 100-year anniversary of the First World War, which will be held next year in Sarajevo.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the initiative to have one street in Sarajevo named after the Hungarian Historian Benjamin Kallay, who was also the Austro-Hungarian Governor of B&H from 1882 until his death in 1903.
