Mayor of Sarajevo Received the Czech Ambassador to BiH

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić received the Czech Ambassador to BiH Tomaš Szunyog and Olga Zdralkova, Council of the Czech Republic to BiH who congratulated the mayor on his appointment.

Mayor Komšić and Ambassador Szunyog expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation of the city of Sarajevo with the Czech Embassy and the city of Prague, which is based on traditionally historical and friendly ties.

“There was especially intense cultural cooperation, which we will continue and improve even more”, said Komšić. He added that he expects the inclusion of the Czech Republic on the project “Sarajevo 2014”, which will mark the 100 years since the start of the First World War and 30 years since the XIV Winter Olympic Games in our city.

During the reception, they spoke of the support and assistance of Prague to Sarajevo in the design of projects and their candidacy to the funds of the EU. Specifically, the city of Prague is prepared to share the experience of Czech experts to representatives of the City Administration of Sarajevo related to the preparations of development projects and the possibility of using EU funds. Mayor Komšić welcomed this initiative and pointed out that priorities of the project are in the area of urban planning and infrastructure.

In the end, Mayor Komšić said that the city of Sarajevo in the next period will engage in ensuring adequate facilities with the intention to lend support in solving problems of location of space in which to performs the activities of national minority associations that operate in Sarajevo (among them is the “Czech Beseda”).
