The Central Election Commission of BiH is organizing again this year a conference entitled “Local Elections 2012-Analysis of Electoral Process”.
The two-day conference will be held on Jahorina from 12-13 April and will gather around 150 participants (members of local election commission, representatives of political parties, elected officials and guests from abroad).
The work of the conference is planned through workshops with the active participation of all present. The topics to be discussed will help election commissions in the implementation of electoral activities, and would enable the Central Election Commission of BiH to provide on the basis of their experience improved technical aspects of the election process, and to initiate the improvement of the electoral legislation in BiH.
Member of the Republic Electoral Commission of Serbia Milorad Gašić will participate in the conference and will hold a presentation called “Position of National Minorities in the Electoral System of Serbia”, with a special emphasis on local elections in Vojvodina that were held in 2008 and 2012.
The Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Fletcher M. Burton and Head of the Council of Europe Office to BiH Mary Ann Hennessey will address participants.
The final document of the conference will include the adoption of conclusions that will be distributed to all organs of the administration of elections in BiH and other participants in the electoral process who are interested, and it will be available to the public on the Central Electoral Commission of BiH website, www.izbori.ba.
The BiH Central Electoral Commission is organizing this conference in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to BiH, Council of Europe and the Association of Election Officials in BiH.
