The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, is today on an official visit to the Holy See. During the private audience, Bećirović will speak with Pope Francis.

After the audience with Pope Francis, a meeting is planned with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and the Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.

The Holy See recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 7, 1992. Diplomatic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Holy See were established on August 20, 1992.

Relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Holy See are rated as friendly, with a high level of understanding and respect. Bosnia and Herzegovina has hosted two heads of the Holy See three times since the establishment of diplomatic relations: Pope Ivan Paul II visited Sarajevo in 1997 and Banja Luka in 2003, and Pope Francis visited Sarajevo in 2015, announced the Cabinet of the BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović.
