Meeting of Chairman of CoM with PM of Qatar: Series of Agreements signed

Chairman Zvizdic met with the Prime Minister / Minister of Internal Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Naser bin Khalif Al-Thani in Doha. They discussed the improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries. It was noted that the relations of the two countries are friendly and without any open questions and there is a mutual interest in improving political and economic cooperation.

They also discussed the topic of visa liberalization for the citizens of BiH. Prime Minister Al Thani stated that Qatar has nothing against the abolition of visas for diplomatic and official passports, and added that ministers of security should meet and make a modality of easing the visa regime for citizens.

Chairman Zvizdic informed the Prime Minister Al Thani about the current processes of reforms in our country, as well as the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of BiH. He stated that these are compatible processes that lead to the fulfillment of two priority goals of BiH, i.e. economic prosperity and membership in the EU. Furthermore, he added that the Council of Ministers of BiH is committed to activation of all existing resources with the aim of accelerated economic development and opening of new workplaces, especially for the employment of young people. He said that our country is interested and opened for cooperation in the sectors of energy, tourism, agriculture, wood and metal industry, infrastructure, as well as strengthening of culture through cooperation in the field of sports and education. He welcomed the introduction of a regular airline between Sarajevo and Doha, which will largely facilitate the visit of businessmen and tourists to BiH. Chairman of CoM, Denis Zvizdic, invited Prime Minister of Qatar to pay a visit to BiH.

This meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak, Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Adil Osmanovic, Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH Ismir Jusko, Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka and Ambassador of BiH to Qatar Tarik Sadovic.

After the meeting, in the presence of the Prime Minister, a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of youth was signed between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the State of Qatar; the Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of healthcare, production of medicines and employment of health workers; the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the field of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the State of Qatar. Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Adil Osmanovic signed the Memorandum on behalf of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Minister of Culture and Sports of Qatar Salah bin Ghanem Al-Ali, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Minister of Education and Higher Education dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi on behalf of the Government of the State of Qatar. Moreover, the delegations of the cities of Sarajevo and Doha signed an Agreement on brotherly relationship between these two cities.
