Izetbegovic-B.-1Member of the BIH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović visited yesterday the new building of the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Turkey to BIH Ahmet Yildiz.

Izetbegović told journalists that he came for a visit because he is interested in the applied architectural solutions.

“I was involved in the site selection for the construction of this building, and I am an architect by profession and I am interested in this. This is a very comfortable building that has everything that modern embassies should have’’, said Izetbegović .

He added that this is the largest Turkish Embassy in the region and among the biggest in Europe.

“This speaks a lot of the relation of Turkey towards BIH and is one of the signs of good intentions of Turkey towards BIH’’, concluded Izetbegović .

Yildiz told the media that employees of the Embassy are in the process of moving ot the new building that has not yet been officially opened.

He added that the official opening will take place when there is a visit from Turkey at the ministerial level, but the date has not yet been scheduled.

“We are honored that President Izetbegović  came to see our new building and we are happy that we would have more chances to host him and other friends and colleagues at this place’’, said Yildiz.

Otherwise, the new building of the Turkish Embassy is found on Vilsonovo Promenade and consists of two connected buildings with a useable space of 5.000 m2.

The construction lasted eight years, even if the original plan was to have it finished in four years.

Yildiz said that they had a problem with bureaucracy, but that is all behind them now.
