A member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, issued a press release, as stated, on the occasion of another verbal attack on him by the Russian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov, in which Kalabuhov said that “Bećirović will be ashamed of his statements on Ukraine”.’
“I would be very worried if, on the occasion of the anniversary of the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Russian ambassador told me that I would be proud of my statement about Ukraine. I would also be concerned if the Russian ambassador left me off the list of those to be labeled and vilified.
The followers of Putin’s regime use dirty propaganda to continuously try to discredit the leaders of Ukraine, the European Union, the United States of America, as well as all other leaders of the democratic countries of the world. I am proud to point out that I stand with all those who condemn Russian aggression and that I am not in the small group of dictators and autocrats who support and honor the Putin regime.
After the latest attack by the Russian ambassador, it is even clearer that we are two different worlds. The views of the vast majority of the inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina and my views are crystal clear: we are on the side of the free and unconquered people of Ukraine and the brave Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
We, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, know very well what aggression against an independent and sovereign country means, and that is why, in principle, we support all those who fight for freedom and peace,” wrote the BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović in his response.
