The Minister of Defense Zekerijah Osmić received the Ambassador of France to BiH Roland Gilles in Sarajevo. He was accompanied by the military attaché for BiH with a seat in Zagreb, Colonel Eric Prigent.

The BiH Defense Minister thanked Ambassador Gilles for the visit and the overall contribution of France in the last period, and during the meeting the importance of French and BiH cooperation in the field of defense was highlighted, as well as support for BiH on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.

Minister Osmić gave special attention to the importance of establishing a Regional Center for Demining, for which the representatives of France contributed to the most.

Also, Minister Osmić stressed the importance of reform in the Defense sector in BiH, the participation of members of the armed forces of BiH in peace-support missions, as well as the need to meet the conditions as soon as possible to join the Membership Action Plan for NATO (MAP).

Ambassador Gilles informed the Minister that in next year in France, as in the rest of Europe, 100 years since the beginning of WWI will be marked. There are already plans that some events and activities take place in BiH, especially those in the field of culture, and that in France the Ministry of Defense is responsible for these activities.
