Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović and member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić held a meeting in London with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Great Britain David Lammy.
The interlocutors exchanged opinions on key issues for the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the preservation of the constitutional order, the rule of law, the issue of state property, as well as the role and mandate of the Office of the High Representative in ensuring the implementation of peace and stability.
The Euro-Atlantic future of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also discussed. The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Bećirović, thanked the UK for its consistent and principled support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for its continuous engagement in preserving peace and stability in our country.
He also pointed to the importance of the United Kingdom’s continued support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path.
He pointed out the importance of a consistent policy of sanctions against individuals whose actions threaten the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Dayton Peace Agreement and peace in our country.
Sanctions represent an important deterrent against anti-constitutional and secessionist activities and send a clear message that the UK has zero tolerance for attacks on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bećirović and member of the Presidency of BiH Komšić thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice of the UK for the organization of the UK’s National Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide and other government activities in memory of the genocide committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica.
BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić pointed out that accepting the truth, whatever it may be, is the only way to real reconciliation. He emphasized that, unfortunately, without facing the past and accepting the facts, there is no permanent reconciliation or building of trust.
UK Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister David Lammy emphasized that the UK strongly supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said that the UK, as a witness to the Dayton Peace Agreement, is determined to protect peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Among other things, Minister Lammy pointed out the importance of adopting the Decision on the appointment of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments in accordance with Annex VIII of the Dayton Peace Agreement. He also expressed unquestionable support for the acceleration of the Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the talks, commitment to further improvement of friendly and partnership relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK was confirmed, along with mutual readiness to strengthen political, economic and security cooperation, Klix.ba writes.
