cik bihMembers of the Central Election Commission (CIK) B&H, with President Stjepan Mikić, met in Sarajevo with the Head of the Council of Europe to B&H Mary Ann Hennessey.

The main topic of discussion were preparations for the general elections 2014 in terms of the necessary amendments to the Election Law.

During the discussion, President Mikić pointed to the problems with which the Central Election Commission could face if they do not fill the legal gaps in the Election law of B&H, referring primarily to the provision that the decision of the B&H Constitutional Court abrogated, and which refers to the number of electoral units and the names of related municipalities in the RS for the House of Representatives of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly.

They also pointed to the problem of the implementation of the existing provisions of the B&H Election Law that relates to the gender representation in the body for the conduct of elections.

They also spoke of the implementation of “Sejdić-Finci”.

At the end of the meeting, Mary Ann Hennessey and President Mikić expressed satisfaction with the mutual cooperation of the B&H Central Election Commission and the Council of Europe, and agreed to continue good practices, announced today the B&H Central Election Commission.
