Members of the BiH Presidency invited to Washington

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, which is traditionally held every first Thursday in February, this year for the first time all members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) were invited.

Among others, the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, was invited, as well as numerous other BiH officials.

However, what is particularly significant is the invitation to the three-member state Presidency, especially if it is taken into account that the United States (U.S.) President Joe Biden will also be at the breakfast, which certainly gives the members of the BiH Presidency the opportunity to discuss numerous pressing issues in our country.

BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic and Zeljko Komsicunofficially confirmed that they will attend the prayer breakfast, while the confirmation of the chairman Zeljka Cvijanovic is still awaited. It can be assumed that she will also respond to the invitation of the American president, considering that it will be an opportunity to hold a series of meetings and talks with numerous officials, both from the U.S. and from the rest of the world.

The assumption is that in earlier mandates, it was not possible to send an official invitation to the BiH Presidency to attend this event, given that Milorad Dodik, who is on the U.S. blacklist, was a member of the Presidency at that time.

Namely, in previous years, this event was attended by many BiH officials, so in 2016, at the prayer breakfast organized by the then U.S. President Barack Obama, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak, the President of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) Marinko Cavara, entity prime ministers Zeljka Cvijanovic and Fadil Novalic, as well as businessman Mujo Selimovic attended.

The former mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, was also one of the guests at the 2020 prayer breakfast organized by former U.S.President Donald Trump.

The National Prayer Breakfast is a 60-year-old tradition, which gathers the President of the U.S., members of Congress, U.S. politicians and officials from 140 countries in joint prayer every first Thursday in February in Washington, Klix.ba reports.
